Zero energy homes add up to big plus

A leading expert says more homes are being designed to use less energy, which will help reduce dependence on oil and gas.

The expert, David Johnston, says buildings consume 48% of all carbon emissions, so building zero-energy houses can go a long way toward a clean environment. There's more in this USA Today story.

That's important in the San Joaquin Valley, which is plagued with some of the worst air pollution in the nation. Please continue reading the blog of the San Joaquin Valley Clean Energy Organization as we continue to report on energy issues in the Valley.

The San Joaquin Valley Clean Energy Organization is a nonprofit dedicated to improving our region's quality of life by increasing its production and use of clean and alternative energy. The SJVCEO works with cities and counties and public and private organizations to demonstrate the benefits of energy efficiency and renewable energy throughout the eight-county region of the San Joaquin Valley.

I hope that I'll be able to build such houses that won't harm nature in any way and can fulfill its need on its own.

I would think we will see contractors specializing in this type of construction before long. Good way to compete.
