Celebrities and solar savings

Companies love to use celebrities to market their products and solar businesses, apparently, are no different.

Sungevity is pitching its solar-leasing program by calculating how much certain celebrities could cut their energy bills if they added solar, Greentech Media says in this story.

Sungevity, fresh with millions of new capital, said pop icon Madonna would save $260 a month on a lease payment of $164. The estimates are just that - estimates - but it is an interesting marketing ploy.

More solar companies are offering leasing programs as an alternative to buying systems. The leasing plans have expanded the pool of potential customers.

The San Joaquin Valley Clean Energy Organization is a nonprofit dedicated to improving our region's quality of life by increasing its production and use of clean and alternative energy. The SJVCEO works with cities and counties and public and private organizations to demonstrate the benefits of energy efficiency and renewable energy throughout the eight-county region of the San Joaquin Valley.
