Here are your wEEkly updates: News and Opportunities California Clean Energy Jobs Act Citizens Oversight Board Meeting The California Clean Energy Jobs Act (Prop 39) Citizens Oversight Board Meeting will be holding a board meeting on February 9, 2017. Community Choice Aggregation En Banc Hearing The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will hold a Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) En Banc hearing on February 1, 2017. A Water Sector Energy Hog  Water use accounts for about 20 percent of California’s electricity use and 30 percent of natural gas used by businesses and homes according to Alvar Escriva-Bou at the the Public Policy Institute of California. Art Rosenfeld, California’s Godfather of Energy Efficiency, 90 Art Rosenfeld, known as California’s “godfather” of energy efficiency and who has been credited with being personally responsible for billions of dollars in energy savings, died Friday at his home in Berkeley, California.

1. Weatherization Guide for Local Governments

The Statewide Energy Efficiency Collaborative (SEEC) released a new fact sheet on weatherization targeted for California local governments. The fact sheet highlights key best practices for developing partnerships and programs, demonstrating leadership, and investing in workforce development.

2. 2017 SEEC Participant Survey

SEEC is requesting input from local government staff to get a better understanding of local government needs and interests to inform activities undertaken by SEEC and to help shape the 2017 SEEC Forum. We ask that you complete this quick survey by Friday, January 27th at 5:00 PM.

3. Hayward goes green: City aims to lower energy use by 2025

In 2016, the Hayward city council unanimously adopted a Zero Net Energy goal by 2025 for their municipal facilities. Since Jan. 1, Hayward’s initiative requires that all new city-owned facilities be built to produce ZNE.

4. The Economic Impacts of California's Major Climate Programs on the San Joaquin Valley

Comprehensive cost/benefit study of climate policies in San Joaquin Valley finds over $13 billion in economic benefits, mostly in renewable energy.

Join FTA and CALSTART for a Free Webinar January 24: Best Practices for Deploying Low- or No-Emission Buses The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is hosting a free webinar Tuesday, January 24, on Best Practices for Deploying Low- or No-Emission Buses. CALSTART will provide an overview of the low- or no-emission bus industry, focusing on battery electric buses. The webinar also will feature a panel of representatives from agencies that have been successful in deploying zero-emission buses, including recipients of the FTA's Low-No grants. Agencies interested in low- or no-emission buses will receive guidance on how to go from development to deployment. Please note that this webinar will NOT cover topics about the 2017 Low-No Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). A separate webinar will be conducted at a later date. The Low- or No-Emission competitive program provides funding to state and local government authorities for the purchase or lease of zero-emission and low-emission transit buses as well as the acquisition, construction and leasing of required supporting facilities. 1. 2017 Statewide Energy Efficiency Collaborative Participant Survey

The Statewide Energy Efficiency Collaborative (SEEC) is requesting your input on the 2017 work plan. We hope you take this short (5-10 min) survey intended to get a better understanding of local government needs and interests to inform activities undertaken by SEEC and to help shape the 2017 SEEC Forum. We ask that you complete this survey by Friday, January 27th at 5:00 PM.

2. Grant Funding Opportunity – Energy Commission Challenge Program

The Energy Commission released the Grant Funding Opportunity for the Local Government Challenge grant program. All grant documents are included in the above link. Deadline for applications is March 6, 2017

3. Low Income Weatherization Program Community Solar Investments Stakeholder Meeting

The California Department of Community Services and Development (CSD) is convening a series of public workshops to obtain stakeholder input on how to develop community solar offerings for low-income and disadvantaged communities. The first of a series of workshops begins January 18^th.

4. Notice of Joint Agency Workshop on 2030 Energy Efficiency Targets

The California Energy Commission and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will jointly conduct a workshop to discuss key questions in the implementation of the energy efficiency portions of Senate Bill 350, the Clean Energy and Pollution Reduction Act of 2015 (de León, Chapter 547, Statutes of 2015) (SB 350). Monday, January 23, 2017

1. Updated Version of the Proposition 39 (K-12) Snapshot is Now Online

Updated version of the Prop 39 K-12 program snapshot is now online measuring expenditures, estimated annual energy savings, and GHG reductions. More information on Prop 39 (California Clean Energy Jobs Act) can found here.

2. Multi-family Solar Development Webinar

Informational webinar which will provide background about the goals of the Virtual Net Metering Market Development Project supported by the Center for Sustainable Energy. Learn more about Virtual Net Metering and solar for multifamily dwellings here.

3. RFP: Low-Income Weatherization Program (LIWP)

Notice of Intent to Award is Today! The Low-Income Weatherization Program is an energy efficiency program administered by California Department of Community Services and Development to install a variety of energy efficiency measures, solar photovoltaics and solar water heater systems on low-income households located in disadvantaged communities.

What Has SJVCEO Been up to in December

We hope everyone had a happy holiday and a safe new years. Hopefully everyone was able to enjoy a few days at home with family and friends. Here at SJVCEO we cant believe that we are rolling into 2017 already...where did the year go. 2016 went so quickly and our team accomplished many feats and cant wait to see what the new year holds. In the final month of the year our team was busy at work tying up loose ends before heading into 2017.

For the VIEW Partnership we are happy to announce that the County of Kings has just passed its energy action plan which allows them to move up within the SoCal Edison ELP model. We are also happy to announce that the partnership will be working with the NOAA on their Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador program. The partnership will bring the message of weather readiness as well as how to build resilient communities to our partner communities. With many of the partnerships projects completed for 2016 our team began the planning process for our annual awards luncheon. At our annual luncheon we honor our partners that have moved up in the ELP model as well as made large efficiency gains. We like to take this time after the holidays to show appreciation for our partners as well as elected officials that have supported the partnerships efforts. We look forward to the luncheon as well as what 2017 brings for our VIEW partners.
